1595 BROKE ROAD
The winery is nestled in the natural north to south sloping topography of the site, hosting the complete range of programs needed for all stages of wine production and exports. The concept that drives this design and subsequent structural systems is the natural use of gravity for grape growth and wine production. Gravity- and gravitational pull- informed our material choice of timber structures to indicate higher, lighter areas and concrete to draw heaviness to the lower structures sinking into the earth. The form and program were based around four key ideas: flow, polarity, grid and axis.
